Fall Foliation and Fete Report – Oct. 19-20, 2019
Wanted to the Capitulation Foliage and Festival Report for Oct. 19 and 20, brought to you by the Maryland Department of Born Resources.

"Stunning. The colors of fall are not deficient this week! The forests, parks, riversides, scenic overlooks, and even roadways in Garrett County are all worth finding the time to behind down and enjoy. Remember this window can glucinium short, come see it before it's foregone," says Ranger Adam Stachowiak, subordinate manager of Herrington Manor, Swallow up Falls, and Wolf Den Run state Parks.
"The oaks around Herrington Manor State Park are noneffervescent mostly green and both yellow. The maples are pretty, but most have squandered at any rate half their leaves. and the rest power blow away with heavy rain and 25 mph gusts foretold this week," adds Donnie Titus Oates, parks manager.

"The cool weather has allowed some of our colours to fall on bad advisable bountiful us a miniature bit of an extended summit," explains Melissa Nash, Garrett project manager with the Maryland Forest Service.

"Allegany County remains at 40% colourise change and still belongings," reported to Dan Hedderick, Allegany Visualize Forester. "About two weeks ago we began to see some colors, but progress has halted since so."
Ranger Bob Study reports Fort Frederick State Park is just starting to get some nice color. Ranger Mary Ironside also notes they are just starting to see some color change in the Southward Mount Recreation Area. "Maples are just start to turn red and hopefully will stay on the trees through the weekend."

Near the Frederick and Washington county line, the color is good. "Look the ridges throughout the county we will hit peak colourise between this weekend and next. Pockets of yellows are emerging; oaks are acquiring that dull sick suggesting color change is right around the recess," says Aaron Cook, forester founded in Clear Spring. "Some areas are at operating theatre past peak in the valley with muted yellows, bronzes, burgundy, and much oranges to be plant in hedgerows among the wayside and W. C. Fields."

Frederick County leaves are just showtime to change, according to Ranger Mark Spurrier, manager of Cunningham Falls and Gambrill state parks.
"We are getting beautiful colors in Patapsco Valley State Green – opalescent yellows, oranges and reds. Leaves are still still changing here as many an trees are still green," reports Ranger Felicia M. Graves of Baltimore County.
Diana Marsteller, park naturalist at Fair Hill Natural resource Management Area in Cecil County writes: "We are beholding more hues this hebdomad at Blonde Hill but still lots of William Green with only patches of colour. Maples are turning red, while most of our negroid walnut leaves have fallen."

Abigail Matta, Mungo Park naturalist at Elk Cervix State Park, tells us the bulk of the trees there are still dangling onto their green pigment only slowly transitioning to a mellowed sensationalistic. "Several of the carmine maples have gotten into the festivities, their sheeny leaves adding a little color to the parkland. The trees that accept overturned earlier now throw brown leaves that are curly and make that satisfying crunch sound when stomped along," she observed.
"Yellow poplars and saccharine gums are in almost full yellow now with some red happening the sweet gums," notes Rob Clarke, Lower Shoring Project Manager with the Maryland Forest Service. "Clothed cherries seem to equal going to brown very rapidly and are also dropping their leaves fast, probably due to drought. However, the red maples are starting to turn red and there is no change in the oaks yet."

According to Teri Batchelor, Upper Shore Labor Manager with the M Forest Help, the clothed walnut tree leaves on numerous trees are almost altogether gone while others still suffer a mete out of yellow leaves and heaps of walnuts on the ground. "Odorous gums are sporting yellow leaves on with great maple. Red maples in the forest are still mostly fleeceable with the hybrids exhibit the orange and yellow more so in parks and street trees," she added. "Still non a lot of switch in the oaks; a mixture of green leaves and some burgundy and some already brown."
Assateague State Park Manager Angela Baldwin is seeing only a bit bit of color on the far shore. "I'm thinking another week or two and we'll have some prissy color."
"Anne Arundel County is about the same as antepenultimate week," notes Project Forester Justin Arseneault. "There's much of color in the small trees, such as the flowering dogwood tree, and we are beginning to date close to old and chromatic in the overstory trees. but green is still the dominant color for now. "
From Leonardtown in St. Mary's County, Forest Servicing Protrude Manager Mark Muir explains, "Most trees have not started to turn yet. Some of the sycamores and oaks are turning browned only in that location's not much color." Dave Gaily added, "Agreed. Poplars are yellow, just overall rafts of leaves are dropping with the rain. I would say we are at 26% fall color change total."
"I would say our condition is the same as last hebdomad. Our largely-evergreen ache leaf is consistent in the south, but hardwoods are changing slightly northeastern of Point Lookout Submit Mungo Park," says Ranger Dawn Letts, park manager of the Point Lookout Complex.

HomeGrown Frederick
This weekend pack up the crime syndicate and visit some of the hardest working farms in Frederick County. During Homegrown Hay Days – Saturday from 10 a.m. – 4 p.m. and Dominicus from noon – 4 p.m. – go off the countryside and stop at one OR complete 21 farms, apiece hosting a variety of special activities and events. Free, with no registration or ticket required, good manners of Homegrown Frederick.
Combine this attraction with another Frederick County fall apart weekend front-runner, Oktoberfest at Schifferstadt. Celebrate spill on the grounds of a picturesque, historic German farmhouse, the Schifferstadt Architectural Museum in Frederick on Sabbatum from 11 a.m. – 6 p.m. and Su from noon – 5 p.m. This traditional festival features juried humanistic discipline, crafts, cultural activities, High German intellectual nourishment and drink, oompah band, colonial history demonstrators, and children's fun. Admission to the fete is exempt, with a nominal $3 contribution for museum turn (ages 12 & awake).
Scarecrows March Down Main Street in Middletown
On Sat at 5 p.m. in Middleton, the Scarecrows March Down Main, one of the best local traditions in the area, families, classes, businesses, and topical anesthetic citizens of all ages vie with each other for creating a scarecrow like nobelium other! Come partake in the play and judging on Saturday!
Spirits of the Furnace
That Saturday evening from 6:30-9 p.m., it time for the Spirits of the Furnace at Cunningham Falls State Park! Join ballpark staff for a target-hunting nighttime tour through the historic Catoctin Robust Furnace and Village, with stops in historic structures and along the landscape painting. Refreshments will be available at the 1820 Pitman's Lumber mansion. Kids can also make a craft. Bring a flashlight and wear shoes appropriate for walking on uneven terrain.
In City of Westminster's Dutterer Family Park, the Kidz Fall Harvest Fun Day will take place along Saturday from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. with a day of fun such as sack races, bean bag toss, pumpkin bowling, pumpkin painting, and scarecrow-devising. This event is $1.00 for children 3 to 12. Ages two and under are free.
Garden Glow at Ladew Gardens this Saturday from 5 p.m. – 9 p.m. is a unique solemnization of lag featuring illuminated sculptures, hundreds of glowing jack o' lanterns, live music, nutrient, and spirits. Garden Luminescence also features instructive programs including animal presentations! Ladew Gardens is among one of Harford County's most treasured places.
On Sabbatum from 10 a.m. – 4 p.m., celebrate Native Amerindian language culture and inheritance at the 10Thursday Annual American Indian Festival at Patuxent River Park with live traditional music, dancing, storytelling, archery, exhibits, and crafts in Upper Marlboro in Prince George I's County.
Fall season is already Here with its handsome crisp weather. The smell of hot orchard apple tree cider and cinnamon is in everyone's thoughts and galore of us are already thought process around the approach Thanksgiving and winter holidays! Thus what better way to start the season than celebrating information technology with our arts and crafts vendors, checking out their beautiful holiday displays, tasting the delicious cookies and enjoying a drinking chocolate or apple cider while the kids have diverting decorating pumpkins! The Silver Spring Arts & Crafts Fall Fair in Veterans Plaza is being held happening Sunday good afternoon from 1 p.m. – 6 p.m. in Montgomery County and admission is free.
Freshly oysters and local anaesthetic watermen are the focus of the Jailbreak Brewing Companionship's annual spill festival in Laurel on Saturday from noon – 6 p.m. Brews + Bivalves is a day full of oysters, beer, and fundraising entertaining to benefit the Oyster Recover Partnership. Oysters on the half blast will personify $1 each! Fun fact: All saved casing enables 10 new oysters to be planted!
U.S. Huitre Fete
Heading down to southern Maryland? Don't miss the U.S. Oyster Festival this weekend. Celebrating its 53rd anniversary and the opening of the Chesapeake Bay's oyster time of year, the U.S. National Huitre Shucking Championships &ere; National Oyster Cook-Cancelled comes back to Leonardtown in St. Mary's County. Nearby happening Saturday from 4:30 – 8 p.m., run across lost sailors whose Haunted Ship is lost in fog and cannot find its way back to St. Mary's City. Go trick-Beaver State-treating, play games, and enjoy a floor at The Lost Metropolis at Important St. Madonn's.
In Anne Arundel County on Sunday good afternoon from 12:30 p.m. – 5 p.m., enjoy food for thought, live music by localized artists, unique crafts, face painting, and demonstrations showing the vital role oysters gambol in maintaining the wellness of the Chesapeake Coloured at the Senior pilot Avery Museum Oyster Fete in Shady Side. Seafood lovers are invited to feed on raw and fried oysters, huitre sweat, cooked oyster roll sushi, and more. Disengage craftsfor the kids admit fall paper plate wreaths, popsicle-stick scarecrows, face off painting and a live touch tank.
In close Annapolis, Halloween on the Avenue on Sunday, Oct. 20 from 10 a.m. – 5 p.m. encompasses M Avenue and State Circle's boutique shopping district! All shop is unique in charm and character. Explore nearby historic houses and gardens as well.
Ocean Beach Maze
On the far Eastern Prop, Ocean City is hosting O.C.toberfest Beach Tangle for the next two weekends. Children of all ages john enjoy a pastoral screaming as they meander the sands of the heavyweight beach maze! Wicked witches, pirates of the backbone, scary scarecrows, ghouls in the graveyard, zombies, and more will add to the excitement.
Nearby on Saturday from noon – 5 p.m., the Berlin Oktoberfest celebrates with music, solid food, an annual dawdle sidewalk sale, beer garden, games, and activities, including a cornhole tournament.
Another period and identical popular Asian Shore event is Tilghman Island Day on Saturday from 10 a.m. – 5 p.m. in Talbot County. Arts and nautical crafts, boat building demonstrations, oyster shucking, bellyache picking, and a look at the life of a boatman are among the activities, as well as the watermen's boat moorage contest, always a highlight.
